Come and join us in our quest!Position Summary:As Soufflé's phospholamban program advances toward the clinic, we're seeking a Senior Scientist to lead nonclinical efficacy and pharmacology studies, both internally and with external academic and CRO collaborators. This is a new role created to give the program dedicated bandwidth for in vivo, cellular, and organoid models of cardiac disease, including expansion into new indications and novel model systems.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently lead and execute in vivo and in vitro studies supporting the phospholamban programOwn downstream processing, analysis, and data presentation for cardiac/muscle studiesServe as the main point of contact for external collaborator relationships, including academic leaders and CROsMentor and train other scientists on novel assays and functional assessmentsSupport biology assessment of novel cardiac targetsWhat Success Looks LikeIn 3 months: Completed sample analysis and interpretation for ongoing external collaborator studies, and established as the primary point of contact for those collaborations and internal study leadIn 6 months: Demonstrated lab leadership as primary mentor to an associate scientist, and completed assessment of cardiac organoid platforms to support development of siRNA conjugatesIn 12 months: Developed a strategy for functional evaluation in expansion indications such, and identified go/no-go decision points and critical studies for exploratory cardiac targetsQualifications — Required3-6+ years of relevant industry experience, including 2+ years in a similar role, with a PhD or Master's degree and significant experience in cardiac or muscle biologyHands-on experience with cardiac-specific disease models and functional assessments (e.g., hypertrophy analysis, contractility, calcium assessments), and standard lab techniques (qPCR, western blotting, cell culture, necropsy, tissue processing and analysis)Experience designing in vivo and in vitro pharmacology/efficacy studies and leading external collaborations with CROs or academic partnersStrong team player with high emotional intelligence and communication skills, comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with competing, shifting prioritiesQualifications — PreferredExperience with heart failure specifically, cardiac organoids or ex vivo cardiac models, and/or exposure to nonclinical developmentEducationPhD or Master's degree, with significant experience and exposure to cardiac or muscle biologyAt Soufflé Therapeutics, we are intentional about building an equitable culture.
