Senior Software Engineer

We’re looking for someone who has already shipped production systems end-to-end, can move fast without much structure, and wants to work in person with us in NYC 3–4 days a week.You are already based in NYC: While it is ok to work from home 1-2 days a week, this isn't a remote job and we expect you to come to the office.You are comfortable with a small, fast-moving startup where you will be expected to own ambiguous problems, build quickly, talk to users, and ship production-quality code.What's Dobby?If you didn't know, every year, around 450 million containers move through ports. Each involves 7+ old school companies coordinating across emails, texts, Excel files, PDFs, and old legacy systems.Imagine if there was an AI tool that reads across the emails, databases and files of all these entities and organizes all shipment data for easier collaboration. And this requires a solid team.Who are we looking for?An A+ engineer: You ship quality code fast. Prototype, get it in front of users, iterate.Strong fundamentals: Solid system design, data modeling, and API design, with good architectural judgment under ambiguity.Low-ego + hard-working: We take the work seriously, not ourselves. When things don't work you're willing to delete your work and repeat, ok to receive feedback without defensiveness.An owner + mentor: Building tech today, growing the team tomorrow. You pick up new domains fast, and you lift the engineers around you.You have experience with (or you're willing to learn and master):LLMs at scale in production: You've shipped real LLM features, and you know how to scale and optimize LLM calls balancing cost and quality.Data pipelines: You've built pipelines that ingest and process data at scale (think hundreds of thousands of emails) with an eye for throughput and reliability.Bonus points if:Play an instrument.LocationThough we are flexible and do work remotely from time to time, we like to work together in person most of the week. We'll ask you to work with us from our office 3–4 days a week on average.
