Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer with 4–8 years of professional experience. The candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of secure, scalable, and high-performing software solutions.This role requires strong technical expertise, a quality-first mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.Previous experience in the Banking, Financial Services, Payments, or FinTech industry is preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in product planning and prioritization discussions with business and product stakeholders.Estimate, design, develop, test, deploy, document, and maintain software solutions.Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable applications that meet business and customer requirements.Drive technical discussions and make informed trade-offs related to architecture, design, performance, and maintainability.Integrate services and APIs while ensuring a seamless customer experience.Automate software delivery, deployment, and operational processes.Monitor application performance, reliability, and operational metrics, and continuously improve service quality.Identify risks, communicate status updates, and proactively resolve issues.Demonstrate solutions and support product acceptance activities.Contribute to process improvements, engineering best practices, and knowledge sharing.Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of team members.Technical Skills & ExperienceSoftware DevelopmentStrong development experience using Java, JavaScript, SQL, and related enterprise technologies.Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design principles, and common design patterns.Experience building applications using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Angular, or equivalent modern technologies.Strong knowledge of API design, integration, and service-oriented architectures.Security & ComplianceExperience developing secure applications following industry standards such as OWASP, CWE, and secure coding best practices.Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth, SSO, MFA, RBAC, JWT, and SAML.Knowledge of encryption, digital signatures, cryptographic protocols, and data protection practices.Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements such as GDPR and PCI DSS.System & Platform KnowledgeWorking knowledge of Linux, Windows, and enterprise operating environments.Ability to troubleshoot complex application issues using logs, thread dumps, heap dumps, and performance diagnostics.Understanding of cloud-native architectures, PaaS and FaaS concepts.Knowledge of containerization technologies and modern application deployment models.Engineering Practices & DevOpsSoftware QualityExperience applying software engineering best practices including Git workflows, peer reviews, reusable code principles (DRY), and clean code standards.Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Test Pyramid concepts.Experience designing and maintaining unit, integration, service, regression, and performance tests.CI/CD & AutomationExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.Familiarity with code quality, vulnerability scanning, and software composition analysis tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, Nexus IQ, JFrog XRay, or Veracode.Experience with deployment strategies including Blue-Green and Canary deployments.Knowledge of artifact management and release orchestration.Observability & OperationsExperience implementing logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.Familiarity with tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, Log4j, and SLF4J.Ability to analyze operational metrics and improve system reliability, performance, and availability.Understanding of incident management and production support practices.Professional SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams.Experience estimating requirements and prioritizing work based on business value.Strong communication and presentation skills.Ability to provide constructive feedback and mentor team members.Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.About MphasisMphasis applies next-generation technology to help enterprises transform businesses globally.
