Senior Software Engineer

The OpportunityMedendo is the market leader for AI in Dutch Mental Healthcare, and we’re just getting started. Our product is evolving from a reporting tool into a fully integrated clinical assistant.We are looking for a Senior Engineer to build and scale the next phase of our workspace. By the end of 2026, our assistant will go beyond reporting to handle consult preparation, diagnosis support, treatment plans, and translations, all while connecting seamlessly with EHRs and relevant external software.This is your chance to move beyond standard SaaS products and build a system that deeply understands clinical context, acting as a professional assistant to healthcare professionals.The RoleWe are expanding into Europe, opening our product to new medical verticals and securing MDR (Medical Device Regulation) certification. We need a pragmatic builder who can balance radical AI innovation with the security and stability required for medical professionals. What you'll be doing:Build Intelligent Workflows: You will be building the core loops where AI actively unburdens the professional, integrating smart assistant capabilities directly into the daily workflow.Scale for Impact: You will refactor and expand our stack to handle exponential user growth across multiple verticals & countries.Integration Strategy: You will write the code and design the patterns to connect with EHR providers and other tools, ensuring our AI assistant works seamlessly within the healthcare ecosystem.Engineering Standards: You will set the bar for code quality, security, and CI/CD, enabling the team to ensure we ship fast without breaking things.The Tech StackOur Techstack is optimized for AI support, fast-paced development cycles and high community adoption:Google Cloud Platform and its services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Vertex, Cloud SQL and more.Backend: FastAPI, PythonFrontend: React, Typescript, JavascriptLLM’s: Gemini, GPTAI Engineering: Structured Outputs, Function Calling, MCP’s, Agentic AI.DevOps and infra: Github, ArgoCD, Sentry, Jira.Who We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a "Product Engineer" someone who cares as much about the end-user's experience as they do about code quality:Senior Experience: 5+ years in software engineering with deep expertise in Python and modern Frontend frameworks (React).Systems Mindset: You build systems that are secure, compliant, and scalable. You know when to use a thread and when to use an async queue.AI Curiosity: You don't need a PhD in Machine Learning, but you must be excited to build with AI. You are familiar with terms as MCP, Agents, AI hallucinations, tokens, context windows, prompt engineering, inference, etc.Healthcare awareness: Experience with healthcare APIs (FHIR/HL7) and healthcare security standards is a massive plus, but not required if you are a quick learner.Our CultureMedendo is a tight-knit team with a relentless focus on value for healthcare workers.High Trust, Low Bureaucracy: We trust you to manage your time.
