Software Engineer – Node.js / Nest.js | React / Next.js | TypeScript | Utrecht [€80K][SaaS / Story Visualisation]Hundreds of thousands of users interact with content built on this platform daily. The backend that powers it is a three-person engineering team, Javascript stack on Google Cloud, and a data layer that's getting more complex by the month. My client is a Dutch scale-up of around twelve people in story visualisation, changing how organisations tell their stories. Their no-code story CMS lets companies and universities build interactive stories for recruitment, onboarding, and marketing, and it reaches hundreds of thousands of users a month. The product is on the edge of a full technical renewal, its V2, with AI tooling built straight into the platform. Engineering is a small group: a hands-on CTO, a frontend developer, and a product manager. You would strengthen the backend and help decide where the product goes next. What you’ll doYou work across the full stack with most of your time on the backend and data. You design and build APIs and services in Nest.js and Node.js, develop integrations with external platforms like CRM, LMS, and analytics tools, and build the data pipelines and statistical processing that power the product. About 30 percent of your time is fullstack, shipping features end-to-end in React and Next.js. The whole thing runs on Google Cloud with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. You work closely with the frontend developer, the product manager, and Customer Success, and you use AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to move faster. Architecture decisions are made together, not handed down.Your profile5+ years of experience as a Software EngineerciStrong knowledge of Node.js (Nest.js is a plus) and React / Next.js with TypeScriptExperience building APIs and working with databases and cachingExperience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD pipelinesAffinity with data: integrations, analytics, or statistical processing are familiar territoryAI-native developer: you use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot dailyFluent in English.
