All whilst supporting millions of critical events every single day for customers operating in sectors where reliability isn't optional.Their technology underpins life safety, security, critical infrastructure and IoT solutions, where reliability isn't just important, it is critical.The OpportunityThey're undertaking a major engineering transformation, decoupling a monolithic platform into modern, scalable services on Azure.You'll be joining a dedicated Signalling Engineering team responsible for designing and building the systems that power the heart of the business.You'll help build highly resilient APIs and backend services capable of processing millions of signalling events every day, whilst modernising legacy architecture into loosely coupled, cloud-native services that are easier to scale, maintain and evolve.This isn't a role where you'll spend months fixing bugs in a legacy codebase. You'll be helping shape the next generation of the platform while solving the kind of scaling and reliability challenges that don't exist in smaller engineering teams.What You'll Be DoingBuilding scalable backend services using PythonDesigning robust, secure APIs powering critical customer-facing systemsBreaking down and modernising legacy applications into distributed servicesWorking on systems processing millions of events every day with high availability requirementsWriting clean, well-tested, maintainable code following engineering best practiceParticipating in architecture discussions and technical designMentoring engineers through code reviews and technical guidanceDriving quality through testing, CI/CD and continuous improvementCollaborating with Product, Delivery and Architecture teams to deliver new features What They're Looking ForThey're looking for an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys ownership and solving complex engineering challenges.You'll likely have experience with:PythonREST API developmentDistributed systems or microservicesSQL databasesCloud platforms (ideally Azure)CI/CD pipelinesTest-driven development and automated testingBuilding scalable production systemsExperience modernising legacy applications or working within event-driven architectures would be particularly valuable.Why Join?This isn't a business standing still.In recent years they've completed multiple acquisitions, expanded internationally across the UK and Europe, and continue investing heavily in both their products and engineering teams.
