Senior Software Engineer

The RoleWe're looking for a talented Senior Software Developer who wants to build products that people actually use, not maintain a legacy system nobody cares about. You'll join our R&D and engineering team and work on real products that serve thousands of students, counsellors, and university partners across Africa and beyond.You'll have genuine ownership. If you enjoy solving interesting problems, experimenting with AI, and building things from scratch, you'll feel right at home here.What You'll Work OnInternal platforms: Build and improve our core web platforms that power student applications, counsellor workflows, and business operations.AI and conversational products: Develop and integrate AI chatbots, WhatsApp automation, and voice agents that talk to thousands of prospective students.APIs and data: Design and maintain APIs, including our course data service covering UK and Canadian universities, and build data pipelines that keep everything accurate and up to date.Integrations: Connect our systems with tools like HubSpot CRM, the WhatsApp Cloud API, Meta, and other third-party services.Mobile and web products: Contribute to our study abroad mobile app and new SaaS products, including our events platform.Infrastructure and deployment: Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on cloud servers, and keep them secure, fast, and reliable.Engineering standards: Write clean, tested, well-documented code, review pull requests, and help set best practices for the team.Mentorship: Guide junior developers and interns, and help grow a strong engineering culture.RequirementsAt least 2–3 years of professional software development experienceStrong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in Flask (or a similar framework such as Django or FastAPI)Solid experience with relational databases, especially MySQL or PostgreSQLExperience building and consuming RESTful APIsWorking knowledge of JavaScript/Node.js and modern frontend developmentExperience deploying applications on Linux servers (e.g., DigitalOcean, AWS) using tools like Nginx and GunicornComfortable with Git and GitHub workflowsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and own projects end-to-endWillingness to work fully onsite at our Lagos officeNice to have:Experience with chatbot platforms (e.g., Botpress), LLM APIs, or AI voice toolsFamiliarity with Supabase, HubSpot, or the WhatsApp Business/Cloud APIExperience with data processing using pandas or similar librariesMobile app development experience (Flutter, React Native, or native)A GitHub profile or portfolio showing projects you've builtWhat We OfferVery competitive salary that reflects your skills and experienceHealth benefits covering your well-beingPerformance bonuses that reward the value you deliverReal ownership of products used by thousands of peopleHands-on work with AI, automation, and modern technologiesA collaborative, fast-moving R&D team where new ideas are welcomeClear career growth as our technology function expandsWhy You'll Love It HereAt TGM Education, technology isn't an afterthought.
