Senior Backend Engineer – C# / .NETMelbourne | Hybrid – 3 days onsiteAn exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team working on complex, business-critical technology within a global financial technology environment.This is a great opportunity for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, working across modern and established platforms, and having a genuine impact on new product development.The RoleYou’ll join a collaborative engineering team responsible for both supporting existing backend services and building a new enterprise trading platform from the ground up.You’ll be involved in areas including:Building and enhancing backend services and APIsDeveloping functionality across order entry, order books and trading workflowsWorking with complex, distributed systems and challenging technical problemsSupporting and improving existing production servicesContributing to technical design and architecture decisionsWriting clean, maintainable and well-tested codeTroubleshooting production issues and performing root-cause analysisWorking closely with developers, QA and product stakeholdersHelping shape engineering practices and technical directionExploring how AI-assisted development can improve engineering productivityThis isn't a role where you'll simply be maintaining legacy applications. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a new enterprise offering while also helping evolve established technology.What We're Looking ForWe're looking for a strong backend engineer who brings:Extensive C# / .NET development experienceStrong backend engineering fundamentalsExperience building REST APIsExcellent understanding of clean, maintainable codeExperience working with production-critical applicationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExperience with automated testing and quality engineering practicesExperience with CI/CD and modern software deliveryAbility to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your workA genuine interest in learning and working across different technologiesNice to HaveExperience with any of the following would be advantageous:AWSC++RustJavaScript / TypeScriptEvent-driven or distributed systemsMicroservicesObservability and monitoringModern database technologiesYou don't need previous trading or financial-services experience.
