Senior Software Engineer (Platform & DevOps)Location: LagosSalary: N800,000 Per MonthThe role You are the technical lead of a small full-stack team and the engineer responsible for everything the product runs on: infrastructure, deployment pipelines, security and reliability. You make sure the platform can ship quickly and safely, recover from anything, and scale as usage grows. You set engineering conventions, review your teammates' work and mentor two mid-level engineers, while still building features across the stack yourself. As we grow, you will lead the move of our servers onto AWS or GCP, and later the build of platform's agentic layer, so people can plan trips and discover experiences with Platform from inside ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants. What you will own ● Cloud infrastructure. Our servers outside Supabase, on AWS or GCP: compute, networking, IAM, storage, logging and cost, all defined as code with Terraform or similar. ● CI/CD and environments. GitHub Actions pipelines, separate development, staging and production environments, and deployments to Vercel and the App Store and Google Play. ● Supabase foundations. Auth, schema conventions, Row Level Security standards, migrations, Edge Functions and database functions. You approve every migration and RLS change across the team. ● Security. Secrets management, access control, dependency and code scanning, and authorisation testing. You make sure one user can never see another user's private data. ● Reliability. Monitoring, alerting, logging, backups and tested restores. You run recovery drills and are deputy incident commander. ● Payments and subscriptions. Flutterwave and in-app purchases for Platform Insider, plus other cross-domain integrations. ● Code review and standards. Pull-request review for the team, CodeRabbit AI review, protected branches and CODEOWNERS. You raise the technical bar through review and mentoring. ● The agentic layer (once prioritised). An MCP server with OAuth account linking that exposes Platform actions, such as searching experiences or building a trip, safely to AI assistants. Key responsibilities ● Plan and lead the move of our servers (everything outside Supabase) to AWS or GCP, with infrastructure defined as code, secure networking and IAM, and clear cost controls. ● Design, build and maintain the infrastructure and deployment pipelines for the mobile app, web apps and backend services. ● Design and document how our services fit together across Supabase, Node.js and the cloud. ● Write and audit RLS policies for user data, trips, saves and bookings. ● Keep the platform secure and recoverable: secrets, access, backups, restore drills and incident response. ● Review code across the team and approve every database migration and security-sensitive change. ● Mentor the two mid-level engineers and help them grow towards senior. ● Build product features across the stack when needed, from APIs to web and mobile screens. ● Take part in daily stand-ups, and other agile ceremonies Your first 90 days ● Take ownership of the Supabase project, repositories, pipelines and environments, and confirm everything builds and deploys from a clean setup. ● Document the current architecture and how our services fit together. ● Audit and tighten RLS policies across the app's data. ● Stand up monitoring, alerting and backups, and run the first timed restore drill. ● Get CI/CD, CodeRabbit review and CODEOWNERS working for every repository. ● Review our current hosting and present a plan to move our servers (everything outside Supabase) to AWS or GCP. What you bring ● 5+ years building and running production web or mobile products, with strong TypeScript. ● Deep PostgreSQL experience. Hands-on Supabase, including RLS, auth and migrations, is strongly preferred. ● Strong full-stack skills across React, Next.js and Node.js, and enough React Native to review mobile work properly. ● Proven DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, containers with Docker, infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar) and running production systems. You have been on call and fixed things under pressure. ● Hands-on AWS or GCP experience (required): compute (for example ECS, EC2, Cloud Run or GKE), networking (VPCs, load balancers, DNS), IAM, managed databases, storage and cost management. ● Strong security instincts: least privilege, secret handling, authorisation testing. ● Experience leading code review and mentoring other engineers. ● Clear written communication. You document decisions and leave things better than you found them. Nice to have ● Experience with LLM APIs, tool calling or MCP servers. ● Payments or subscription integrations, including App Store and Google Play in-app purchases. ● App store release pipelines (for example EAS builds for React Native). ● Travel, marketplace or consumer product experience ● Kubernetes or other container orchestration. Tools you will use day to day TypeScript throughout. React and Next.js for web, React Native for mobile, and Node.js for APIs and services. Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions) for the core backend, and AWS or GCP for everything outside Supabase. Docker and Terraform for infrastructure, GitHub Actions for CI/CD, Vercel for web hosting, and Cloudflare for storage and DNS. Logging, monitoring and alerting tools (for example CloudWatch or Google Cloud Monitoring, and Sentry). CodeRabbit for AI code review, OpenAI and Google APIs, ClickUp for planning, and AI coding tools as a normal part of the job. How we work ● Every change goes through a pull request in Platform's GitHub organisation, with review, CodeRabbit and CI checks. ● Daily stand-ups, a weekly operating review and other agile ceremonies. ● No one approves their own releases or access. ● Decisions are well documented, so anyone can pick up where someone else left off.
