Their technology connects patients, providers and healthcare partners at real scale.About the RoleThe opportunity Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you'll take ownership of several engineering teams and the platforms they build. It's a leadership position with genuine technical weight, you'll shape direction and standards, while staying close enough to the systems to be useful when things get difficult.ResponsibilitiesLeading and growing a group of engineers and engineering managersSetting architectural direction across customer-facing and partner-facing products, built on Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and AWSOwning delivery end to end, and making it something the business can count onWorking alongside Product, Operations, Design and QA to turn complex requirements into shippable workTreating security and compliance as design decisions, not afterthoughtsUsing engineering metrics to drive real improvement rather than reportingActing as senior escalation when something significant breaksHolding budget, vendor and infrastructure cost decisionsRequired SkillsSubstantial experience across engineering, architecture and distributed systemsSeveral years managing people, ideally including other managers or multiple teamsReal hands-on depth with AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python and TypeScript/JavaScript — built and shipped, not just familiar withBackground in scalable SaaS or consumer platforms, particularly anything transactional or logistics-heavyConfident with agile delivery, CI/CD and relational database designSomeone who can talk technology with non-technical leaders and have both sides come away clearerPreferred SkillsLeadership experience in healthcare or another tightly regulated environmentFamiliarity with healthcare data, integrations or clinical systemsHaving scaled a team through a period of rapid growth, or led a major modernisation programmeA postgraduate qualification in a technical or business disciplineIf this sounds like your next move, please apply directly, or get in touch with o.archer@x4lifesciences.com.
