The team is growing, with a strong focus on mentorship and career growth.About the roleThis role is technical leadership first, with people management alongside it. You’ll shape the architecture of an event-driven Azure platform, lead .NET backend development, and run a team of full-time engineers and contractors from early-career to lead level. Much of the work is net-new, so you’ll also help define how the team is structured and operates as it grows.What you’ll doDesign and evolve a distributed platform on Azure: containerized services, asynchronous messaging, PostgreSQL, Redis, and blob storageLead backend development in modern .NET (ASP.NET Core APIs, Entity Framework Core, CQRS-style patterns) and set the bar in code reviewsOwn and improve multi-stage Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for infrastructure, container builds, and environment deploymentsImprove platform performance, cost, and operational simplicityManage and mentor engineers, grow their cloud skills, and delegate so the team owns executionPartner with senior leadership and serve as backup to your managerWhat you bring10+ years in software engineering, application development, or IT, including 6+ years of hands-on software engineering with cloud-based applications3+ years directly managing and developing software engineering teamsExperience leading greenfield, enterprise-grade application delivery or comparable large-scale workExperience with .NET, React, and Azure, or comparable technologiesAbility to mentor engineers on cloud-native patterns, distributed systems, and cloud architectureA strong technical foundation, with the judgment to delegate instead of becoming a bottleneckClear communication with senior leaders and non-technical stakeholdersBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience with demonstrable cloud architecture expertiseAuthorization to work in the US without sponsorship, now or in the futureNice to haves6+ years of cloud-native work on Azure; 3+ years with Azure Container Apps, AKS, or similar orchestrationProduction microservices and event-driven systems (Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs)Modern C# and .NET 8+, TypeScript and Node.js, Bash or PowerShellDocker multi-stage builds, Azure Container Registry, Bicep or Terraform, and Azure networking and data servicesAzure certifications (AZ-400, AZ-305, AZ-204, AZ-104), CSM, or SAFe AgilistProfessional services background (legal, financial services, accounting, or consulting), legal technology or document management, and SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR exposureExperience leading a team of roughly 10 to 25 engineers
