Senior Specialist – Post-Fixing & Shipping ClaimsRole:The Senior Specialist will manage post-fixture activities, with a particular focus on demurrage and other shipping-related claims. The role will work closely with Trading, Shipping Operations, Legal and Finance teams to ensure claims are accurately assessed, negotiated and settled, while minimising financial exposure.Key Responsibilities:Manage, negotiate and defend demurrage and shipping claims, ensuring compliance with contractual time bars.Review and interpret charterparty, laytime and demurrage terms and work with Legal/Contracts where required.Ensure accurate and timely claim calculation, invoicing, recovery and settlement, minimising financial leakage.Monitor time-bar deadlines, claim provisions and post-fixture reporting.Work closely with Trading, Shipping, Finance and Legal teams to identify and reduce demurrage and shipping cost exposure.Maintain accurate records of claims, costs and recoveries.Analyse claims data and identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.Manage relationships with shipowners, ship agents and trading counterparties.Provide reporting to senior management and support/mentor junior team members.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Law or related field.6–8 years’ experience in shipping, oil trading or commodities.Strong hands-on experience in post-fixture claims, demurrage and shipping disputes.Good knowledge of charterparty terms, laytime and demurrage calculations.Experience working with shipowners, charterers, trading counterparties and shipping stakeholders.Strong commercial, financial and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and communication abilities.Maritime or Contract Law knowledge is advantageous.
