Senior Sr. Engineer: Java Backend Developer

Job Title: Senior Java Backend EngineerExperience: 5–7 YearsLocation: Bangalore/Hybrid/RemoteRole OverviewWe are looking for a hands-on Senior Java Backend Engineer experienced in building scalable, high-performance enterprise applications. The candidate should have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, with proven experience handling large datasets, concurrent users, batch processing and performance-sensitive APIs.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop scalable backend applications and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.Design and optimize systems handling millions of records and concurrent users.Optimize PostgreSQL queries, joins, indexes, execution plans, transactions, locks and connection pools.Design efficient PostgreSQL and MongoDB data models.Implement pagination, batch processing, bulk operations, partitioning, archiving and asynchronous processing.Develop fault-tolerant batch jobs that can restart or resume after failure.Identify and resolve performance issues across the application, database and JVM layers.Prevent API timeouts and connection-pool exhaustion during heavy operations.Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical mentoring.Troubleshoot application and database performance issues in production.Required Skills5–6 years of backend development experience.Strong hands-on expertise in Java 8+/17/21 and Spring Boot.Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, REST APIs and transaction management.Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including complex SQL, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, indexing, partitioning, locking and performance tuning.Working experience with MongoDB, including data modelling, aggregation, indexing and bulk operations.Experience processing millions of records using batch, chunk-based, paginated or streaming approaches.Good understanding of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous processing and memory-efficient application design.Experience with Spring Batch or an equivalent framework.Strong debugging, problem-solving and production-support capabilities.Preferred SkillsAWS: RDS, EC2, S3 and ALB/NLB.Redis or similar caching technologies.Kafka, RabbitMQ or another messaging platform.Docker, CI/CD, monitoring and observability tools.JVM profiling and performance tuning.Experience working on high-volume enterprise applications.Ideal CandidateWe need a hands-on engineer who can independently solve database and application performance challenges, design reliable high-volume processing solutions, and take technical ownership in a growing product-based organization.
