Senior Staff Engineer and/or Project Engineer

Rock Solid Geotechnical, Inc. is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Laguna Beach, California.We are a growing geotechnical and engineering geology consulting firm working primarily throughout coastal Orange County and surrounding areas. Our projects include residential development and redevelopment, hillside properties, slope stability evaluations, retaining structures, deep foundations, coastal properties, and construction-phase geotechnical services.We are looking for someone with approximately 3–5 years of geotechnical consulting experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility and manage projects from beginning to end.What You’ll Do

• Prepare proposals and assist with project scoping and budgeting
• Plan and coordinate geotechnical field investigations
• Review boring logs, laboratory testing, plans, and subsurface information
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and develop recommendations
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical letters, and agency responses
• Coordinate with clients, architects, structural and civil engineers, contractors, and reviewing agencies
• Provide construction-phase geotechnical support and field consultation
• Manage multiple active projects and help keep them moving from investigation through completionThis position is a good fit for an engineer who has developed a solid technical foundation and is ready for more independence, client interaction, and project ownership.Qualifications
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Approximately 3–5 years of geotechnical consulting experience
• EIT certification required
• Working toward California Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Ability to organize and independently manage multiple projects
• Experience reviewing architectural, structural, civil, and grading plans
• Southern California geotechnical experience is strongly preferredExperience with hillside residential projects, slope stability, retaining walls, drilled pier foundations, construction observation, and Southern California geology is a plus.About Rock SolidWe are a small, busy consulting firm where engineers and geologists are directly involved in their projects.
