Apply & track with Apply EdgeOpportunity for a Strategy Associate to join a high-growth, private equity-backed consumer and agriculture business entering an exciting new stage of growth and investment.Reporting to the Head of Sales & Marketing and working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer, you'll own the commercial analysis that underpins decisions across the organisation, from demand and supply planning through to pricing, margin and customer strategy. You'll structure problems, work out what matters, and turn the numbers into clear recommendations that shape what the company produces, what it sources, and how it prices and sells.Based in Melbourne, you'll learn from senior strategy leaders who have made the move from top-tier consulting into industry themselves, with regular access to the CEO and executive team. It's exposure well beyond a typical Associate role, and a genuine launchpad for a long-term in-house career, with future pathways into commercial, operational or strategy leadership.Key responsibilities include: Owning the demand forecast, turning sales team inputs into a single view of demand across markets and products, from the short term through to multi-year planning, to guide supply and production decisionsBuilding cost-to-serve analysis by SKU and setting the margin floors and minimum prices the sales team negotiates againstShowing the real dollar impact of commercial decisions, from pricing trade-offs to channel mix across retail and wholesale customersShaping strategies for each product category, channel and customer, framed as clear options with a recommendation, and refining them as market conditions changePlanning third-party supply purchasing, including what to buy, when and at what pricePartnering with the CCO and Head of Sales & Marketing to prepare for and hold the line in key customer negotiationsRedesigning sales KPIs and dashboards around the decisions they need to support, working with the in-house reporting teamGetting to know the business from the ground up, spending your first weeks across operations and the supply chainWhat You'll Bring: 2 to 5 years' experience in management consulting gained within a leading management consulting firm, with a focus on strategy (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Kearney, L.E.K., Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, EY-Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, or Similar)Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including scenario and blank-sheet modellingDemand forecasting experience and the commercial judgement to turn analysis into a clear recommendationConfidence presenting to and influencing senior commercial leaders Curiosity about how the operation works, healthy scepticism of the numbers, and a hands-on approach to getting things doneFMCG, consumer or agribusiness exposure, SKU-level or pricing analysis, S&OP experience, PE-backed environments or Power BI skills highly regarded, though not essentialIf you're looking for an opportunity to be mentored by experienced former consultants and senior commercial leaders, see your analysis drive real decisions across the business, and build a long-term in-house career with pathways into sales, supply chain or strategy leadership, please reach out for a confidential discussion, aislyn@oaktreetalent.com
