Preparing documents and drawings for classification society and client. Provide Engineering support for major conversion & RIAP projects and yard activities. Support project tenders by estimating and preparing MTO. Prepare and maintain project planning documents related structural discipline.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out duties assigned by Lead Engineer / Manager for day-to-day operations and to ensure them to compliance with the established standards and procedures.Prepare project deliverables list for structural projects, provide structural schedule analyses for detail drawings and production deliverables in line with master project schedule/milestones, indication of required MP and keep track records on progress of deliverables.Supervise the work of CAD designers and contractors to ensure quality standards and design criteria are met.Conduct building strategy meetings to assure that safety and production requirements are well defined and captured on engineering deliverables.Undertake structural design and lifting calculations based on agreed project schedule or approved work request.Review and approve structural design proposals.Conduct design review meetings to assure that technical objectives are being achieved.Liaison with Client in order to assure that all technical/engineering requirements are met.Preparation of documentation for approval of Class and statutory bodies.Ensuring engineering work undertaken is accordance with Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures and Standards.Ensuring that all activities are in line with OHS & E requirements.Writing technical specifications for shipboard equipment.Executing duties of Project Engineer if required.Attend, when requested, vessel inspections to define the scope of work required for vessel modifications, repairs and conversions.Identification of changes of project specifications or deliverables, variations to contractual scope, schedule impact due to client’s engineering delays and rising change orders within time limit required by the project or department.Participating in design reviews, inter-discipline checks, 3D model reviews and implementation necessary follow up actions timely.Guide and supervise the structural drafting team to produce accurate 3D model and deliverables.Plan and maintain manpower and other resources required for smooth operation of the section.Follow up with trades and carry out inspections during vessel construction as necessary.Estimate hours and materials for delegated aspects of work.Conduct shipyard audits, risk assessment and training as required.Review third party technical documents & drawings and clarify technical issues.Resolve Classification society comments and incorporate client’s comments /remarks cost effectively.EducationBachelor/Engineering degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Experience10+ years relevant experience in shipyard, offshore / Oil & Gas industry in design and production engineering office.Experience in various hull structural design standards like DIN/JIS/ as well as a good understanding of ABS, DNV, API, AISC and otherKey CompetenciesExcellent knowledge of designing structural projects in basic, detail and production stages for marine and offshore structures.Technical knowledge of installation and commissioning of structural items.Very good background with resolution of technical issues during projects planning and execution phases.Project management skills.
