Senior Technical Office Engineer - Mechanical Design

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Office Mechanical Engineer to join our construction team in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical design, technical office activities, MEP construction, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and engineering coordination.The role will be responsible for reviewing and developing mechanical designs, preparing and reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines, handling technical submittals and RFIs, and providing engineering support to site construction teams.The candidate should have practical experience in design and construction projects within the KSA, with a strong understanding of Saudi building codes, international standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Design & EngineeringReview project specifications, contract documents, drawings, and design requirements.Develop and review mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and other mechanical systems.Perform and review mechanical calculations including:Cooling and heating load calculationsEquipment selection and sizingDuct sizing and pressure-loss calculationsChilled water and hydronic piping calculationsDomestic water demand calculationsDrainage calculationsFirefighting hydraulic calculationsPump and equipment sizingPrepare design layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.Ensure designs comply with project requirements, applicable codes, and authority requirements.2. Technical Office ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and approve mechanical shop drawings and coordinated MEP drawings.Review subcontractor and supplier drawings, calculations, material submittals, and technical documents.Prepare and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) and technical queries.Review and resolve technical issues raised by the construction/site teams.Prepare method statements, technical reports, material submittals, and other engineering documentation.Review and comment on as-built drawings and ensure technical information is accurately reflected.Assist in preparing variation orders, technical proposals, and change documentation where required.3. Design CoordinationCoordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP disciplines.Participate in design coordination and clash detection meetings.Review BIM/3D coordination models and identify potential clashes before site execution.Coordinate MEP services with structural elements, ceilings, shafts, plant rooms, and architectural requirements.Work closely with BIM engineers and CAD teams to ensure coordinated drawings are issued correctly.4. Site & Construction SupportProvide technical support to site engineers and construction teams.Conduct site inspections to verify that installations comply with approved drawings and specifications.Assist in resolving construction and installation problems.Review proposed technical solutions and ensure constructability of mechanical systems.Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers on technical matters.Participate in testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover activities.5.
