This is a customer-focused position where you will use your technical expertise to help customers overcome challenges, improve applications and identify the right packaging solutions for their needs.You will work closely with customers as well as Sales, Quality, R&D, Operations and Engineering teams to ensure products and materials perform as expected in real-world medical and pharmaceutical applications.This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on technical problem-solving, customer support, project delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and provide practical solutions.Advise customers on material selection, packaging design and product performance.Investigate and resolve technical issues, including supporting line trials, testing and implementation at customer sites.Build strong customer relationships and act as a key technical point of contact.Support Sales during customer meetings, technical discussions, proposals and new business opportunities.Lead and contribute to technical projects and CAPA investigations of medium to high complexity.Review and analyse technical data to identify opportunities to improve product performance, design and processes.Support validation, product evaluation and trial activities alongside R&D, Operations and Engineering.Work closely with Quality to investigate product performance issues and implement effective solutions.Produce clear technical documentation including reports, test results and product data.Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and laboratory technicians.Share knowledge and best practice across the team around materials, testing and applications.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across products, materials and processes.Travel internationally as required to support customers and technical activities.What You’ll Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.7–10 years’ experience in a technical, engineering or similar customer-facing role.Strong understanding of sterile barrier flexible packaging design and performance.Experience using quality and engineering tools such as CAPA, DFMEA, DOE and SPC.Good understanding of medical device standards, particularly ISO 13485 and ISO 11607.Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with experience interpreting technical data.Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in a practical way.Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills.Comfortable working across technical, quality, commercial and operational teams.A hands-on approach with a genuine interest in understanding and solving technical problems.Flexibility to travel internationally when required.Why Join?Work directly with customers and see your technical solutions being applied in real-world environments.Join a practical and collaborative team working closely across engineering, quality, R&D and commercial functions.Build specialist knowledge within medical and pharmaceutical packaging.Gain international exposure through customer and site visits across the EMEA region.Take ownership of projects and have the freedom to identify and implement improvements.Opportunities for ongoing learning, development and career progression.Competitive benefits packageBy applying to this job post you agree that Sterling Engineering may process your personal data for recruitment purposes.For more information and a confidential chat please contact Gerard Cunniffe on +353861908885
