Senior Marine Technician / Engineer

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: Up to €50,000 per annum, depending on experienceThe OpportunityAn established international luxury yacht business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Marine Technician / Engineer to join its Service team in Barcelona.This is a highly hands-on position supporting the maintenance, repair and refit of luxury sailing yachts up to approximately 90 feet.The successful candidate will work across a broad range of onboard mechanical systems, including steering, propulsion, engine-room equipment and plumbing.

The role would suit an experienced marine engineer or technician who enjoys practical problem-solving and takes pride in delivering work to a high standard.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out servicing, maintenance, repair and refit work across luxury sailing yachts.Diagnose and repair mechanical and marine engineering faults.Service and repair steering systems, including rudder removal and replacement of rudder bearings.Undertake propulsion-system work, including:Propeller shaft removal and installationPropeller servicingCutlass bearing replacementShaft seal replacementThrust and flexible bearing replacementSupport engine-room refits and marine engine replacements.Carry out routine servicing and maintenance of marine engines.Service and replace seacocks, pumps and associated plumbing systems.Assist with wider mechanical refit and upgrade projects.Produce clear and accurate technical reports following completed work.Plan and organise workload to meet agreed project schedules.Liaise effectively with colleagues, contractors, captains and other stakeholders.Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.Candidate ProfileWe are looking for someone with strong practical marine engineering experience who is comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively within a wider service and refit team.You should have:A minimum of 5 years' professional experience within marine engineering.Strong hands-on experience with marine mechanical systems.Good knowledge of steering, propulsion, plumbing and associated yacht systems.Previous experience servicing, repairing or refitting yachts, boats or similar marine vessels.Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.Excellent attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.The ability to manage your own workload and work to agreed deadlines.A proactive and self-motivated approach.The ability to work effectively under pressure.Strong communication and organisational skills.The ability to work both independently and within a team.Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.Existing legal right to live and work in Spain.Desirable ExperienceThe following would be advantageous:Marine Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent technical background.Experience within the luxury yacht or superyacht sector.Previous experience working within a yacht service, refit or boatyard environment.Metal fabrication and machining experience.GRP repair experience.Strong understanding of preventative marine maintenance.Full driving licence.Package & BenefitsSalary of up to €50,000 per annum, depending on experience.Permanent employment contract.40-hour working week.Opportunity to work on high-end sailing yachts within an international marine environment.Professional tools, equipment and workwear provided.Ongoing training and professional development.Collaborative and technically experienced team environment.Interested?This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced marine technician or engineer looking for a permanent shore-based position in Barcelona while continuing to work directly on high-quality yacht engineering, maintenance and refit projects.Applicants should already have the legal right to live and work in Spain.
