Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are seeking an experienced Performance Test Engineer to validate the scalability, stability, reliability, and responsiveness of a high-volume track-and-trace platform. The role will focus on performance testing of serialization, commissioning, aggregation, shipping, receiving, decommissioning, reporting, and regulatory integration processes. The engineer will work closely with QA, development, architecture, infrastructure, database, and business teams to identify performance risks and ensure the platform can support expected and peak transaction volumes.ResponsibilitiesDefine and maintain the performance-testing strategy, test plan, workload model, scripts, and performance acceptance criteria.Gather and validate non-functional requirements, including: Expected daily and monthly transaction volumes.Peak-hour and peak-day volumes.Required transactions per second, or TPS.Concurrent users and system integrations.API request and message throughput.Maximum acceptable response times.Batch-processing and file-processing timelines.Data-retention and database-growth expectations.Design realistic workload models covering normal, peak, seasonal, and exceptional business conditions.Execute load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, capacity, volume, and failover testing.Test critical track-and-trace processes, including: Serial-number commissioning.Packaging and aggregation.Shipping and receiving.Import and export event processing.Decommissioning, recall, destruction, and returns.EPCIS event submission and processing.Regulatory and external-system integrations.Bulk file uploads and batch-processing activities.Reporting, dashboards, and data-extraction processes.Measure and analyze: Transactions processed per second and per hour.API throughput and response times.Event-processing latency.Message-queue depth and processing rate.Error and timeout percentages.CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization.Database query performance, locking, and connection usage.Application-server and integration-layer performance.Identify system bottlenecks across application, database, middleware, API gateway, message queue, network, and infrastructure layers.Coordinate with technical teams to troubleshoot issues and validate performance improvements.Establish baseline performance results and compare performance between releases.Produce clear performance test reports, dashboards, bottleneck analysis, risks, and recommendations.Support production-capacity planning and provide input on infrastructure-sizing requirements.Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.Maintain reusable scripts, test data, monitoring configurations, and performance-testing documentation.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 4–6 years of experience in performance and non-functional testing.Hands-on experience with tools such as: Apache JMeter.K6.LoadRunner.Azure Load Testing or similar cloud-based tools.Strong experience testing REST APIs, web applications, middleware, message queues, and batch-processing systems.Experience with API tools such as Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, Splunk, or similar tools.Good understanding of SQL, database performance, query analysis, and data-volume testing
