For more information, visit www.Blacktail-Energy.com.Role Description This full-time, on-site Senior Valve Design Engineer role is based in Austin, TX. The Senior Valve Design Engineer will lead the design and development of geothermal valve and wellhead systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety in demanding operating environments. Responsibilities include creating detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate valves into broader geothermal systems, and overseeing prototype development, testing, and design validation. The role involves reviewing requirements, performing engineering calculations, supporting manufacturing and field operations with design-related guidance, and driving continuous improvement of existing valve products. The engineer will also participate in design reviews, maintain documentation and standards, and mentor junior engineers to support project execution from concept through deployment.QualificationsStrong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with experience in complex fluid-control or pressure-containing components.Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and tolerance analysis.Understanding of Electrical Engineering principles as they relate to actuated valves, instrumentation, and control systems integration.Experience in Product Design, from requirements gathering through prototyping, testing, and release to production.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.Experience with high-pressure, high-temperature systems (energy, oil and gas, or geothermal) and relevant industry standards.Ability to interpret engineering specifications, perform strength and fatigue calculations, and apply materials and manufacturing knowledge.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations, manufacturing, and field services teams.Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects and mentoring other engineers.Familiarity with project management tools and practices; geothermal or renewable energy experience is a plus.
