Role OverviewThis senior leadership position is pivotal in shaping the future state of global operational processes across various investment asset classes and regions. The role involves crafting standardized workflows, defining ownership boundaries, and establishing control frameworks for back-office operations, with a strong emphasis on technological advancement and vendor integration. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in portfolio accounting, reconciliation, and management of outsourced vendors. This position balances day-to-day managerial responsibilities with strategic partnership roles, focusing on workflow design, testing, and the incorporation of industry best practices into the operational model.Key ResponsibilitiesLead comprehensive back-office control functions, overseeing daily reconciliation, exception management, break investigation, and resolution in areas such as positions, cash, transactions, tax lots, P&L, and related investment data.Identify recurring reconciliation issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and collaborate with internal teams and external providers to prevent repeated discrepancies and enhance the operating model.Manage outsourced back-office service providers, focusing on governance, KPI/SLA management, issue escalation, service quality review, and integration of provider workflows into the new operational model.Design and implement reconciliation controls, including setting match criteria, tolerance thresholds, exception routing, aging standards, control documentation, and escalation protocols.Establish uniform standards for daily reconciliations, control execution, break prioritization, and issue documentation to ensure accountability among internal teams and external partners.Develop and present executive-level metrics, dashboards, and reports for senior management review.Coordinate the transition and handoff of investment data outputs, ensuring clear ownership, documented controls, and alignment across various processes.Collaborate with transformation and technology teams to define target-state workflows, support the implementation of reconciliation tools, validate new data outputs, and ensure operational readiness for platform migration.Develop and maintain industry-leading procedures, control documentation, operating playbooks, and governance routines to support auditability, resiliency, and consistent execution across back-office operations.Build and develop a Core Operations team, including role definition, capability building, setting operational standards, and developing scalable team routines.QualificationsA minimum of 10 years of experience in back-office operations and reconciliations within asset management or investment banking sectors.Extensive experience across multiple asset classes, including derivatives (OTC and listed), fixed income, and cash products.Strong understanding of transactions and their impacts on cash, positions, P&L, performance, and fund accounting.Proven experience in defining or governing operating models and control frameworks.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technology teams on workflow design, testing, and platform transformation initiatives.Excellent communication and management skills.Disclosure: The hourly rates and/or salaries listed may or may not reflect total compensation packages including bonus and fringe benefits, etc., nor are the advertisement(s) posted a guarantee of a certain compensation package for a position or bona fide offer of employment.
