Senior VT consultant

The RoleThe appointed consultant will provide senior technical direction for VT consultancy assignments while helping develop the capability of our in-house engineering team. The engagement is intended for an experienced professional who can combine project delivery, independent technical judgement, structured mentoring and practical knowledge transfer.Key Responsibilities· Key Responsibilities· Lead Vertical Transportation strategy, including lift planning, core optimisation, zoning, capacity, speed and equipment selection.· Undertake and review building population and occupancy-demand assessments based on building use, floor populations, operating patterns and peak traffic conditions.· Undertake lift traffic analysis and simulation using ELEVATE or equivalent professional software, including assessment of handling capacity, Average Waiting Time (AWT), Average Journey Time (AJT), peak demand and overall system performance.· Develop and evaluate lift zoning strategies, lift groups, destination-control requirements and appropriate passenger, service, goods and firefighting lift provisions.· Prepare and review VT design reports, lift schedules, technical specifications, performance criteria and tender documentation.· Provide vendor-neutral technical review of OEM proposals and support technical bid evaluation, construction-stage review, testing and commissioning.· Coordinate VT requirements with architectural, structural, MEP, accessibility and Fire & Life Safety disciplines, including hoistways, pits, headrooms, machine/equipment spaces, power requirements and heat loads.· Develop practical design templates, calculation procedures, technical checklists and QA/QC systems for the in-house team.· Train and mentor selected XELUXE engineers through representative projects, traffic-analysis exercises and structured technical sessions.Preferred Profile· Preferably 6+ years of dedicated Vertical Transportation design / consultancy experience.· Strong working knowledge of CIBSE Guide D, EN 81-20 / EN 81-50, ISO 8100 and relevant regional requirements.· Demonstrable experience with ELEVATE or equivalent traffic-analysis tools, equipment planning and multidisciplinary coordination.· Experience across residential, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, high-rise or mixed-use developments.· Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in mentoring and developing engineers.
