Apply & track with Apply EdgeSummaryJob Summary Server Thermal Engineer (Spring, TX / Remote)### Summary of Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end thermal development for enterprise server & rack platforms from concept to mass production. Define system thermal architecture and support limits for CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, DIMMs, storage, PCIe/OCP, chipsets, voltage regulators, power supplies, and other critical devices. Review and correlate system-level CFD models for airflow, pressure drop, heat transfer, and component temperatures. Develop and optimize air-cooling solutions (fan selection, heat sinks, air baffles, ducting, airflow zoning, etc.) considering power, acoustics, redundancy, and serviceability. Evaluate and integrate liquid-cooling technologies (cold plates, pumps, manifolds, radiators, hybrid solutions); address leak, reliability, and failure modes. Create worst-case configuration matrices and execute environmental chamber/rack testing for various conditions and failure scenarios. Collaborate with firmware/controls teams for sensor placement, zone definitions, control algorithms, and energy-efficient cooling policies. Own and maintain thermal specifications, test plans, support matrices, technical reports, risk assessments, and phase-exit criteria; communicate findings to project teams and executives. Direct ODMs and component suppliers in design, qualification, and production readiness of thermal hardware; drive corrective actions as needed. Lead root-cause analysis for thermal/cooling issues during development, manufacturing, and field operation; implement corrective actions. Promote higher-efficiency cooling technologies and mentor team members in thermal analysis and validation.### Required Skills: Thermal Design & Electronics Cooling: Server thermal design, thermodynamics, pressure-flow analysis, electronics cooling for high-density systems, end-to-end solution ownership. CFD Modeling & Simulation: Siemens FloTHERM/FloEFD, Ansys Icepak/Fluent, meshing, boundary conditions, simulation-to-test correlation. Thermal Testing & Validation: Lab experience, environmental chambers, thermocouples, data acquisition, IR imaging, component validation. Cooling Hardware & Server Architecture: Fan/heat sink/cold plate/pump/radiator selection, airflow balancing, server hardware knowledge (CPU, GPU, DIMMs, etc.), firmware-based cooling controls. Design Leadership & Cross-Functional Engineering: Requirements development, data-driven decisions, 3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, NX), supplier management, project leadership, executive communication, collaboration with cross-functional teams.
