Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are looking for an experienced Fleet Service Manager (south) to join our team working in Rochester, Kent, managing a large and complex fleet of vehicles & trailers and cranes alongside a 24-hour Commercial vehicle workshop with 30 employees.OverviewSwain group is one of the UKs most prominent logistics service providers with unique specialisms across a variety of sectors including construction, energy, industrial, retail, government and defence and events, providing the highest level of training to our employees through our approved training centres.Valuing our people, we offer a friendly working environment, focusing on developing skills.Highly compliant FORS Gold Accredited Haulier.Job PurposeThe successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient management of the Fleet and workshop, as well as the retail business within the workshop, including health & safety, service, plant and operational activities, in order to maintain and develop the workshop in line with business needs.Having recently introduced the Key 2 Fleet Management System, the challenge now is to maximise utilisation of the system, ensure business and legal requirements are met, costs are controlled, service levels maintained and all key stakeholders are kept informed.Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage and control day to day workshop activities to ensure that all Health and Safety guidelines are adhered toManage and control day-to-day workshop activities to ensure that customer requirements, quality and standards are maintained. (K2)Manage and control day-to-day ATF Lane and Tachograph lane activities Ensure scheduled repair times are adhered to. (K2)Ensure all WIP and Cost controls are followed as per company policy (K2)Effective management of hours bought and sold including salaries and overtime.Manage the productivity and efficiency of all workshop and support staff. (K2) Min 90%Control workshop costs, including repair and maintenance spend and third-party repairs in line with agreed budgets.Oversee the management and development of the Parts Department including maintenance of stock levels. No stock adjustments / lossesEnsure maintenance standards are compliant with legal and company obligations.Manage KPI’s and workshop debt.Responsible for the Management, recruitment, and development of Workshop staff. Ensure payroll is accurate and on time (Recruitment authority through (Fleet Engineer)Resolve customer/ Service provider/invoice queriesMonthly review meeting with our 3rd party supplier Yearly audits with our 3rd party supplier to ensure that all quality standards and compliance are maintainedEnsure high levels of service and customer satisfaction are met as per operational KPI’sPerson SpecificationMinimum of 5 years' experience managing a large 24-hour workshop operationMinimum of 5 years' experience managing a large and complex fleet of vehicles & trailers and cranes Deep knowledge of road transport regulation, operator licensing, fleet governance and assurance.Detailed knowledge of HGV vehicle maintenance and fleet management legislationKnowledge of Key 2 or similar management systemIT literate and proficient in MS office suiteGood communicatorAbility to adapt in a changing environmentAbility to effectively manage a teamWillingness to take on additional responsibilitiesPay and BenefitsAnnual Salary is very competitive.Employee Assistance ProgrammeLife Insurance SchemeA Company vehicle or car allowance If you feel that you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you.
