Location: Enfield, North LondonSalary: Upto £60,000Shift: 4 on, 4 off – 2 days / 2 nightsJob Type: PermanentThe OpportunityWe’re recruiting for a Shift Engineering Supervisor to join a busy, fast-paced processing operation in Enfield.This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for a shift engineering team, ensuring plant and machinery are running safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.You’ll still be heavily involved technically – supporting breakdowns, fault finding and repairs – while also coordinating your team, prioritising workloads and driving improvements across the site.What You’ll Be DoingLead and supervise a team of multi-skilled engineers and contractorsPrioritise planned and reactive maintenance across the shiftCarry out hands-on fault finding, diagnostics and repairsSupport preventative maintenance and minimise plant downtimeWork across mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumaticsSupport Root Cause Analysis following breakdowns and recurring faultsIdentify opportunities to improve plant reliability and performanceAllocate workloads and ensure engineering priorities are deliveredCoach and develop engineers within the teamMaintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS systemEnsure all engineering work is completed safely and to a high standardDeliver effective shift handovers and communicate engineering issues clearlyWhat We’re Looking ForYou’ll ideally be an experienced Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader or Lead Engineer from a fast-paced industrial environment.You’ll need:HNC in Mechanical or Plant EngineeringPrevious experience leading or supervising an engineering/maintenance teamStrong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skillsExperience with hydraulics and pneumaticsWelding experienceExperience delivering planned and reactive maintenanceThe ability to remain hands-on while leading a teamConfidence prioritising engineering activity in a busy operational environmentExperience within waste, recycling, manufacturing, processing, aggregates, quarrying or another heavy industrial environment would be particularly relevant.The PackageUpto £60,000 London Weighting Allowance4 on, 4 off shift patternOngoing training and career developmentGenerous pension schemeLife coverRetail and leisure discountsHoliday and travel discountsIf you’re an experienced engineering professional who enjoys leading a team but still wants to remain technically hands-on, we’d love to hear from you.Apply today for a confidential conversation.This role is handled by McCarthy Recruitment, an award-winning multi-sector recruiter.
