Job Title: Ship Unloader Operator Job TitleControl Room OperatorReporting RelationshipsReports to:Silo section HeadLocation Around KSARole PurposeThe Ship Unloader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of large-scale pneumatic ship unloading equipment (pneumatic systems) to transfer bulk grain from vessels into the terminal's conveyor system or trucks.

The operator is accountable for maximizing discharge rates while ensuring the structural integrity of the ship and machinery.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES 1. Equipment Operation and PerformanceSafe Operation: Operate the ship unloader with precision, controlling all movements (hoisting, slewing, luffing, traveling) to discharge cargo efficiently without damaging the ship's hold or the terminal infrastructure.Rate Maximization: Continuously adjust operating parameters and techniques to achieve maximum discharge rates as specified in the operational plan.System Monitoring: Monitor control panels, displays, and sensory feedback (pressure, flow, power consumption) to ensure the machinery operates within safe limits.Coordination: Maintain constant communication with the Control Room Operator, Stevedores, and the Vessel Captain to coordinate movements, shifts, and safety stopsHand-Eye Coordination: Excellent precision, depth perception, and spatial awareness for navigating the unloader boom into the vessel's hold. 2. Safety and CompliancePre-Operational Checks: Perform mandatory checks and inspections before starting the unloader and throughout the shift.Confined Space Awareness: Work closely with teams entering the ship's hold for final cleaning (trimming) and ensure the unloader does not create hazards.Emergency Response: Be proficient in emergency stop procedures and emergency lowering/raising routines in case of power failure or equipment malfunction.Dust Control: Monitor the grain transfer points and operate dust suppression or collection systems to maintain air quality and prevent combustible dust hazards.Safety Focus: Unwavering commitment to safety protocols, including working at height and LOTO procedures. 3. Maintenance and ReportingFault Identification: Identify, log, and immediately report any mechanical, electrical, or structural defects on the ship unloader.Routine Servicing: Perform minor maintenance tasks, lubrication, and cleaning as required by the maintenance schedule and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Documentation: Accurately record shift activities, downtime, discharge volumes, and operational incidents in the logbook or SAP.Qualifications & Requirements RequiredKnowledge and Experience 3 years of operating heavy port or bulk material handling machinery is essential.
