Shipping ManagerAbout the RoleBerganza is a specialist dealer in antique and period jewellery, working with rare and historically significant pieces from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras.We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Shipping Manager to oversee the secure handling, documentation, import, export and movement of our jewellery and gemstone inventory.This is a central role within the business, requiring discretion, precision and a genuine appreciation for fine antique jewellery. Working closely with the Director and internal team, you will ensure that all items are accurately recorded, securely handled and delivered safely and on time.You will coordinate domestic and international shipments, prepare customs documentation, arrange couriers and freight services, manage customs clearance, monitor deliveries and resolve any shipping issues. You will also communicate with customers, suppliers and shipping partners, providing timely updates and helping to ensure expected delivery times are met.Key ResponsibilitiesShipping, Imports and ExportsCoordinate all domestic and international shipments of jewellery and gemstonesPrepare accurate shipping, import, export and customs documentationEnsure shipments comply with relevant customs regulations and insurance requirementsArrange secure couriers, freight services and specialist transportationLiaise with shipping companies to monitor expected collection and delivery timesTrack deliveries and maintain clear communication with customersManage customs clearance and respond promptly to delays or shipping issuesMaintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking and delivery informationEnsure high-value items are packed, handled and transported securelyInventory and Stock ManagementMaintain accurate and detailed inventory records for all jewellery and gemstonesReceive, inspect and record acquisitions from auctions, dealers and private sellersOrganise and manage secure storage within stockroom safesConduct regular stock counts and audits to ensure data integrityTrack and document the movement of items between locations, exhibitions, workshops and consignmentsEnsure all items are correctly labelled, catalogued and recordedInvestigate and resolve stock discrepancies in collaboration with internal teamsJewellery Handling and PreparationPrepare jewellery for photography, exhibitions, restoration, shipping and saleAssist with domestic and international acquisitionsSupport catalogue production and the presentation of jewelleryHandle all pieces with appropriate care, security and discretionGemmological and Authenticity DocumentationCoordinate laboratory submissions for certification and reportsArchive and maintain accurate records of all gemmological reports, authenticity documents and certificatesSupport the identification, assessment and documentation of gemstones within the collectionCoordination and CommunicationLiaise professionally with customers, dealers, suppliers, auction houses, couriers and workshopsCoordinate consignments, acquisitions and stock transfersManage correspondence relating to potential purchasesWork closely with the Director and internal team to support the smooth movement of stockProvide clear and timely updates regarding shipments, deliveries and stock movementsSkills and ExperienceExceptional organisational skills and attention to detailExperience in shipping, logistics, imports, exports or inventory managementExperience handling fine jewellery, gemstones or luxury goods is preferredAn understanding of antique jewellery construction and manufacturing techniquesExperience using inventory systems and stock-management toolsKnowledge of customs documentation and international shipping proceduresAbility to handle high-value items with care, discretion and professionalismStrong written and verbal communication skillsConfidence working with internal teams and external partnersPersonal AttributesMethodical, organised and preciseTrustworthy and discreetProfessional and confident communicatorCalm and effective when resolving problemsGenuine passion for antique and period jewelleryWorking HoursFull-time, Monday to FridayLocationHatton Garden, LondonWhat We OfferCompetitive salary20 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidaysCompany pensionPrivate health insurance after one year of serviceCompany eventsAccess to state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and a specialist research library
