Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are recruiting an experienced CNC Swiss Machinist / CNC Shop Manager for a growing precision machining company.This is a highly hands-on shop-floor leadership position for someone who can combine CNC Swiss machining expertise with day-to-day production leadership. The successful candidate will spend the majority of the day in the shop, working directly with machines and employees—not managing operations from an office.We are particularly interested in an experienced Swiss machinist, lead machinist, shop foreman, manufacturing supervisor, or shop manager who is comfortable setting up and operating equipment, troubleshooting machining issues, and keeping a high-mix production environment moving.CNC programming capability is highly desired.
What You’ll Do
Lead day-to-day machine shop operations while remaining actively involved on the production floorSet up and operate CNC Swiss screw machines to support production requirementsReview drawings, specifications, tolerances, and job requirements before productionCoordinate daily production schedules, machine assignments, manpower, materials, and job prioritiesSupport frequent setups, short production runs, custom work, rush jobs, and changing customer requirementsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, quality, and production issuesProgram or modify CNC programs when needed, depending on experienceWork with tooling, speeds and feeds, workholding, and machining processes to improve performancePerform and support first-article and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipmentEnsure finished components meet print, tolerance, and quality requirementsMonitor machine utilization, setup and cycle times, labor efficiency, scrap, rework, and overall shop productivityIdentify bottlenecks and adjust production priorities to keep work flowingCoordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs to minimize downtimeTrain, develop, and provide day-to-day direction to machinists, operators, and other shop employeesDrive improvements in setup time, cycle time, quality, throughput, and overall manufacturing efficiencyPreferred Background:Strong hands-on experience with CNC Swiss screw machiningExperience setting up and operating Swiss-style CNC equipmentAbility to program CNC equipment is highly desiredExperience with CAM-based and CNC Swiss machining environmentsStrong understanding of CNC machine tools, Swiss machining processes, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machine setupAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specificationsSkilled with micrometers, gauges, and other precision inspection and measuring equipmentExperience troubleshooting machining problems and refining setups and processesBackground in a high-mix, low-volume or job-shop manufacturing environment with frequent setups is strongly preferredPrevious experience as a Lead Machinist, Shop Foreman, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Manager, or hands-on Shop Manager is beneficialExperience scheduling and prioritizing multiple jobs across machines and production resourcesUnderstanding of estimated versus actual machining hours, production efficiency, scrap, and job costsExperience machining small-diameter precision components is valuablePlastics machining experience is preferred but not requiredStrong shop-floor leadership and the ability to work directly alongside the production teamCompensation & Benefits:$80,000–$140,000 base salary, based on experience and technical capabilitiesMedical benefits401(k) with employer matchingPaid time off and company holidaysDiscretionary bonus opportunityFull-time, stable employmentOpportunity for continued professional growthThis opportunity is particularly well suited to someone who has developed strong CNC Swiss machining skills and is ready to combine those capabilities with broader responsibility for people, production, quality, scheduling, and overall shop performance.If you are a hands-on machining professional who enjoys solving problems on the shop floor and leading by example, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
