Apply & track with Apply EdgeSalt is currently hiring a Site Reliability Engineer for a client of ours in Amsterdam.This is a freelance role in Amsterdam, where one requires kvk/zzp.As an SRE II, you will build, operate, and improve the Kubernetes-based platform that powers our API ecosystem. You'll develop automation, improve reliability, and own production services end-to-end, helping deliver a secure, scalable, and highly available API platform.About the teamThe team owns the organization's API platform and service connectivity infrastructure. We build and operate the core platform that enables teams to develop, secure, discover, and run APIs at scale.Our platform is built on Kubernetes and includes technologies such as Kubernetes Gateway API, service mesh, API gateways, and API catalog services. We focus on reliability, automation, and developer experience while continuously evolving the platform.What you'll doBuild, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based platform services.Own production services, including deployments, monitoring, documentation, and operational health.Improve platform reliability, observability, scalability, and automation.Operate and enhance API platform components such as gateways, service mesh, and supporting infrastructure.Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable platform capabilities.Required skills3–5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering.Experience operating production Kubernetes environments.Strong software engineering and automation skills.Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident response.Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure.Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and communication skills.Nice to haveExperience with Kubernetes Gateway API, Istio, or other service mesh technologies.Experience operating API gateways or API platforms.Experience with internal developer platforms, GitOps, or Infrastructure as Code.Familiarity with API lifecycle, governance, or catalog tooling.
