SOC Lead AVP Location: New York, NYEmployment Type: Direct Hire / Full-TimeCompensation: $100,000–$150,000 annuallySchedule: 1am - 9amMust be able to speak MandarinPosition OverviewA global financial services organization is seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional to support and lead Security Operations Center activities. This individual will oversee real-time security monitoring and incident response while providing day-to-day leadership to SOC associates during assigned shifts.The position will also support broader cybersecurity initiatives involving security operations, vulnerability management, identity and access management, governance, compliance and information-security risk.Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Operations & Incident ResponseMonitor and evaluate security events and alerts across enterprise systems and infrastructure.Investigate potential cybersecurity incidents and determine appropriate response and escalation actions.Perform initial incident containment and coordinate communication with appropriate stakeholders.Maintain accurate documentation of security events, investigations, actions and outcomes.Conduct post-incident reviews and assist with identifying lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and attack techniques.SOC Team LeadershipProvide day-to-day supervision and direction to SOC associates during assigned shifts.Ensure appropriate staffing coverage, task assignment and operational readiness.Ensure team members follow established security policies, standards and incident-response procedures.Escalate operational or security concerns when appropriate.Participate in improving SOC processes, procedures and incident-response practices.Cyber Defense & Security ServicesAdminister and support assigned security monitoring and defense technologies.Assist with vulnerability scanning and vulnerability-management activities.Support patch-management initiatives.Participate in identity and access management activities.Support penetration-testing initiatives and remediation efforts.Assist with data privacy and phishing-awareness programs.Participate in security audits, risk assessments and related compliance activities.Help implement and maintain organizational information-security policies and standards.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Business or a related discipline.Minimum of 4 years of professional experience.At least 3 years of experience involving cybersecurity, information security, vulnerability management, security architecture, networking, security technologies or systems administration.At least 3 years of experience involving risk management.Knowledge of cybersecurity and information-security principles and best practices.Understanding of regulatory and security frameworks such as FFIEC, GLBA and NIST.Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, firewalls, UNIX/Linux environments and network architecture.Experience or working knowledge of security technologies such as SIEM, DLP, EDR and XDR.Ability to understand network protocols and evaluate identified vulnerabilities.Strong incident analysis, documentation, escalation and communication capabilities.Ability to work within a rotating 24/7 SOC schedule.Preferred QualificationsCISSP, CRISC or other relevant cybersecurity/IT certification.Previous experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment.Previous SOC leadership, shift-lead or team-supervision experience.Hands-on experience responding to cybersecurity incidents in an enterprise environment.
