More information about Steiner Learning’s approach can be found at www.steiner.lk.Role Description The Social Sciences Teacher (Geography/History/Civics) will design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that encourage critical thinking, global awareness, and civic responsibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning curricula aligned with Steiner College’s educational philosophy, preparing lesson materials, teaching classes, evaluating learner progress, and providing constructive feedback. The role also involves organizing learning activities, projects, and discussions that connect social sciences concepts to real-world issues, as well as maintaining accurate records and communicating with families and colleagues. The teacher will participate in staff meetings, collaborate with other educators on interdisciplinary initiatives, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Battaramulla.Qualifications Strong subject knowledge in Geography, History, and Civics, with the ability to integrate these disciplines into cohesive learning experiences.Demonstrated skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management, with experience adapting instruction to diverse learning needs.Ability to foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and respectful discussion on social, cultural, and global topics.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear explanation of concepts and constructive feedback to learners and families.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Social Sciences, or a closely related field; relevant teaching certification or credentials are an advantage.Experience teaching at school or college level, preferably in settings that emphasize holistic or learner-centered education.Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teaching practices and the ability to create a safe, supportive classroom for learners from diverse backgrounds.Collaborative mindset, openness to professional development, and willingness to contribute to Steiner College’s broader educational community and initiatives.
