You will help modernize existing code, package applications as containers for a Kubernetes runtime, and work with test engineers in the lab to reproduce and resolve defects. This role suits an engineer with a few years of experience who enjoys hard technical problems and disciplined engineering.What You'll OwnDesign, development, and maintenance of C++ (C++11 and newer) applications for submarine combat systemsModernization of existing C++ applications and migration of legacy software to a Kubernetes-based platformBuilding and packaging C++ applications as containers for Kubernetes deploymentUnit tests, test coverage, and component and integration testing in lab environmentsDebugging and resolving defects in partnership with test engineersRequirements and scope clarification with product leads, delivering features within sprint cadenceClear, maintainable, documented code that follows program coding and configuration management practicesRequiredActive DoD Secret clearance at time of hireBachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field2 to 4 years of professional software development experienceModern C++ (C++11+), including smart pointers, move semantics, the STL, and multithreadingBuilding C++ applications with Make or a similar build system on LinuxWorking command-line knowledge of Linux, including RHELGit-based version control and code review workflowsDebugging with tools such as GDB, Valgrind, or sanitizersAgile development in a collaborative teamClear communication with technical teams and customersPluses:Containerizing applications with Docker or PodmanExposure to Kubernetes or another orchestration platformPython or bash scriptingDDS, AMQP, or other real-time or distributed messaging middlewareDoD or Navy program experienceCI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deploy in GitLab, Jenkins, or BambooInterested in hearing more?
