Software Engineer - Realtime Platforms - LondonA research focused technology organisation operating one of the world's largest compute environments is looking for a Software Engineer to help build the platforms and tooling that power large scale research workloads.You'll work on the frameworks and services that enable researchers to run millions of computations across a globally distributed compute estate. The focus is on building reliable, high-performance systems that simplify complex workflows, improve developer experience and keep critical research running efficiently.The environment combines distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure and modern software engineering, with technologies including F#, C#, Python, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL and React.We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems, writing clean, maintainable code and building software that operates reliably at scale.What you'll need:Commercial software engineering experience building scalable backend systemsExperience with C#, F#, Python or similar programming languagesStrong understanding of distributed systems and concurrent applicationsExperience working with Kubernetes, containerised applications or cloud-native platformsExperience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL ServerStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work closely with highly technical usersStandout backgrounds:Distributed systems or high-performance computingBackend platform engineeringCloud-native application developmentDeveloper tooling, frameworks or internal platformsFinancial technology, scientific computing or large-scale technology environmentsEngineers who enjoy solving complex performance and scalability challengesThis role would suit an engineer who enjoys building the platforms that other engineers rely on.
