Apply & track with Apply EdgeSOFTWARE ENGINEERLocation: Ross-on-Wye (office-based)We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and quality-driven mid-level Software Engineer to join our small, collaborative team.This is a hands-on software office-based engineering role supporting a varied portfolio of applications and services used by both Dawleys and our clients.You will contribute to the development, support and continuous improvement of solutions across both Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and existing on-premises systems.The role offers an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse technology landscape, balancing the enhancement and support of established business-critical applications with the development of newer cloud-native products and services.As part of a small development team, you'll have the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, influence technical decisions, and see the direct impact of your work on the business and our clients.Due to the collaborative nature of the role, this position is office-based at our Ross-on-Wye locationWhat you will be doingDevelop, test and maintain business applications using C#, .NET and related technologies.Support and enhance existing business-critical applications while contributing to their ongoing modernisation.Design, develop and deploy cloud-based services.Work closely with developers, product managers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices.EssentialAt least three years' commercial experience developing with C# and .NETExperience designing and querying relational databases using SQLStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and clientsAbility to manage competing priorities and work independently when requiredSolid understanding of software architecture, design principles and common architectural patterns (e.g. SOLID, layered/n-tier architecture, DDD and design patterns).Passionate about software craftsmanship, taking pride in writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and continually improving the codebase.DesirableKnowledge of secure coding practicesKnowledge of Azure App Services, Azure Functions, or Azure SQLExperience supporting and modernising legacy or on-premises applicationsDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related disciplineExperience using Git and collaborative development practices.Experience writing unit and integration tests.BenefitsSalary: £35,000–£45,000 depending on experiencePension schemePrivate healthcare schemeLife AssuranceLength of Service Loyalty BonusCompany eventsEye testsAdditional InformationProbation Period: 6 monthsHours of work: 0900 – 1700, full time, permanentHolidays: 31 days including public holidays
