Software Engineer

Title: Fullstack Software Engineer Location : DC Metro Area Target Start Date : ASAP Type: contract Pay Rate : DOE We are seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to build production-grade web applications, automation, and developer tooling that improve the software development lifecycle. This role combines hands-on full-stack development with platform engineering, observability, and workflow automation. Responsibilities Build scalable full-stack web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and Java/Spring Boot. Develop responsive front-end interfaces using Angular, React, or similar frameworks. Design and build RESTful APIs, microservices, integrations, and automation tools. Create reusable frameworks, templates, SDKs, and tooling that streamline development and deployment. Identify manual processes and workflow bottlenecks and automate them where possible. Build and maintain CI/CD and cloud-based infrastructure supporting application deployment and scaling. Implement monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerting to improve application reliability and performance. Develop testing strategies and automation to ensure application quality. Prototype new solutions and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools. Collaborate across engineering teams to drive adoption of development standards, tooling, and best practices. Qualifications 3–5 years of software engineering experience building production applications. Strong full-stack development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Java/Spring Boot. Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React. Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, system design, and SDLC practices. Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch. Experience with Java and Python and developing internal tools or automation. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon Q Developer, or similar. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in evolving environments and communicate technical trade-offs effectively.
