Huge growth ambitions over coming years!Job DescriptionAs a software engineer at Kleene, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance backend systems. This role requires deep expertise in functional programming, distributed systems, and backend architecture.What the job involvesDevelop and maintain services using preferably Clojure and Java.Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure APIs.Work with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features.Optimize system performance, ensuring low-latency and high availability.Implement best practices for software development, including CI/CD, testing, and code reviews.Optimize application performance, scalability, resilience, and reliability.Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage deployments and infrastructure.Troubleshoot and debug complex system issues.Managing database systems and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performanceIdentifying and resolving technical issues in a timely mannerStrong understanding of AI/ML/NLPKey Skills  Strong understanding of functional programming principles preferably Clojure.Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.Experience of working with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.Experience with messaging queues like SQS or Kafka.Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), NLP , RAG and Prompt EngineeringExperience working in Linux environment. Experience with containerisation technology like Docker, hosting platforms like AWS ECS, EKS, EC2.Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient codeDesign distributed systems, scalable architectures, and optimised data models.Drive technical architecture discussions and influence engineering decisions.Knowledge of software development best practices used in SDLC and design patternsKnowledge of warehouse services like Redshift, Big Query or SnowflakeHumble and unafraid to ask questions while understanding the criticality.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsIf some of these describe you, you'll make a great fit:Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plusExperience with Langfuse or other agent monitoring tools.Experience with Jira or a similar issue-tracking system.Experience with testing frameworks.Understanding of Oauth, Saml authenticationExperience in an AGILE/SCRUM/Kanban development environmentStrong understanding of user authentication, user authorization, and security compliance.Once shortlistedA quick chat with hiring managerA assessmentTechnical call to discuss the assesmentCulture Fit interviewAll the best!Internal Policy - Strictly no-agencies.
