SOFTWARE ENGINEER £35,000 – £40,000 Hybrid – 2 days on-site in Newark C# / .NET / ReactJS / Azure / SQL Server / REST APIs daniel.massey@searchability.comTHE ROLEA growing, product-led software business is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Product Development team on a hybrid basis (two days a week on-site in Newark). This is a genuine blend of hands-on development and support – you'll spend your time writing, debugging and improving code, delivering new features and automations, and stepping in to troubleshoot live issues when they arise. Their platforms are cloud-based and built on a modern Microsoft stack, and they operate in a fast-moving environment where up-to-date tooling – including AI-assisted coding platforms – is actively encouraged.THE BENEFITSSalary of £35,000 – £40,000Hybrid working – only two days a week on-site in NewarkFull-lifecycle exposure across support, development and deploymentModern stack and up-to-date tooling, including AI-assisted development platformsInternational, product-led business with real scope to learn and progressTHE SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLEWriting, reviewing, debugging and refactoring code to improve reliability, performance and maintainabilityDelivering new features, enhancements, integrations and internal automationsInvestigating, diagnosing and resolving production issues, keeping stakeholders updated throughoutProactively monitoring application health, logs and alerts to catch issues before they hit customersSupporting customers and third-party developers integrating with the platform, including API troubleshootingCollaborating with Product, Development and Operations teams to test, validate and release new functionalityMaking sensible use of modern and AI-assisted development tools, always reviewing and validating outputsContributing to documentation, knowledge base articles and support proceduresESSENTIAL SKILLSStrong programming and debugging skills across C#, .NET, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and SQL Server / MySQLSolid understanding of API development and integration (RESTful and SOAP, JSON and XML)Experience in software support, systems integration or application troubleshooting, ideally in a customer-facing or production environmentFamiliarity with API tooling such as Postman or SwaggerWorking knowledge of Microsoft Azure and modern DevOps practices (source control, issue tracking, deployment pipelines)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a genuine eye for root causeClear communicator, able to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences alikeComfortable using AI-assisted coding tools with sound judgementA proactive, humble approach to learning – passionate about tech and keen to keep improving
