Software Engineer

The role is with a Sydney-based IT services and software development business that builds, maintains and supports business-critical applications for a range of clients across different industries.The team works closely with clients to understand their requirements, develop practical software solutions and provide ongoing technical support.About the roleWe’re looking for a Software Developer to join a small, hands-on technical team.Reporting directly to the Director, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining client business applications, working directly with customers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and taking projects through from initial scoping to completion.This is an onsite Sydney role, with regular travel to client sites when required.The role would suit someone who enjoys variety, ownership and client interaction rather than being confined to a narrow development function.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain and extend business applications primarily using PHP, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery and SQLBuild and maintain integrations between business applications and SAP Business OneTranslate client requirements and technical specifications into reliable, maintainable codeWork directly with clients to understand requirements, scope solutions and manage expectationsTake ownership of projects from requirements gathering through to deliveryTest, troubleshoot and resolve software and IT issues, including undocumented problemsWrite and maintain technical and end-user documentationDocument existing systems, processes and future technical requirementsManage and maintain virtualised and cloud environmentsAbout youA relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience3+ years of commercial software development experienceCommercial experience developing against SAP Business OneStrong experience developing and maintaining PHP applicationsStrong SQL and relational database experienceExperience with version control and development tools such as Git/GitLabA good working knowledge of Linux, Windows and macOSConfidence communicating directly with clients in a professional environmentStrong written and verbal English skillsAustralian citizenship or permanent residencyOn offer$100,000 + superPermanent, full-time positionSydney-based onsite environmentVaried projects across different industries and technologiesOpportunity to work across both software development and broader IT environments
