Location: Amsterdam, NetherlandsWorking Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per weekAbout the RoleWe are looking for Junior Software Engineers to join an engineering team and develop high-quality technical solutions based on requirements provided by the Engineering Manager and Product Owner.The role involves building and maintaining software applications, writing quality test and production code, applying appropriate design patterns and following software engineering best practices such as SOLID and DRY principles.Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Software ApplicationsBuild software applications using relevant development languages, systems, services and tools.Write readable, reusable and maintainable code using standard patterns and libraries.Refactor and simplify code by applying appropriate design patterns.Follow established testing techniques and methods to ensure application quality.Maintain data security, integrity and quality by following company standards and best practices.Apply software engineering principles including SOLID and DRY.End-to-End System OwnershipSupport the end-to-end ownership of applications and services.Monitor application health and performance and work with relevant metrics.Contribute to reducing business continuity risks and bus factor through appropriate practices, tools and documentation.Contribute to runbooks and operational documentation.Support continuous delivery and experimentation practices.Gain experience managing applications and services through deployment and production operations.Software Systems DesignEvaluate potential architecture solutions against business and technology requirements.Develop a broad understanding of system infrastructure and architecture.Understand the implications of changes to existing systems and the introduction of new systems.Contribute to prototyping, technical spikes, vendor evaluations and engineering improvements.Design solutions that meet current business requirements while allowing for future enhancements.Technical Incident ManagementSupport the investigation and resolution of live production issues.Help mitigate customer impact within agreed SLAs.Contribute to root cause analysis and long-term reliability improvements.Participate in post-incident and postmortem processes.Track and document production incidents.Critical ThinkingIdentify patterns and underlying issues in complex situations.Apply logical and analytical thinking to identify appropriate solutions.Review and constructively evaluate technical ideas, plans and solutions.Identify SMART improvements and clearly communicate the rationale behind recommendations.Continuous Quality & Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve processes, systems and performance.Evaluate existing processes, methods and standards.Contribute to designing and implementing improved processes and engineering practices.Maintain data security, integrity and quality.Follow established engineering standards and best practices.Effective CommunicationCommunicate technical information clearly and effectively.Adapt communication style and language to different audiences.Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.Practise active listening and ask relevant questions to understand requirements and technical discussions.Work collaboratively to achieve mutually agreeable solutions.RequirementsBachelor's degreeFamiliarity with building software applications.Familiarity with end-to-end system ownership.Familiarity with software systems design.Experience with effective communication.Familiarity with continuous quality and process improvement.Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.Understanding of software development best practices.Ability to write readable and reusable code.Understanding of testing practices and application quality.Full Stack Developer RequirementFor the Full Stack positions:React.js experience is required for frontend development.Stronger backend capabilities are preferred, as candidates will be assessed primarily on their backend skills.
