Software Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who combines strong hands-on software engineering skills with people leadership experience.The ideal candidate will have a strong development background in TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Node.js, and AWS, while also having experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.This person will lead a team of approximately 5–8 engineers, remain hands-on with architecture and coding, and partner closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and other enterprise teams.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership – 30%Manage and mentor a team of 5–8 software engineers.Provide coaching, feedback, and career development.Promote ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.Support team engagement and performance management.Technical Leadership & Development – 50%Remain hands-on with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Node.js, and AWS.Contribute to system architecture, design, development, deployment, and production support.Build scalable, secure, resilient, and observable applications.Establish CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, and modern engineering practices.Work with Architecture, Security, Compliance, and other enterprise teams.Support adoption of AI/ML capabilities where appropriate.Cross-Functional Leadership – 20%Partner with Product Owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Manage cross-team dependencies.Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and project progress.Participate in roadmap planning and prioritization.Required SkillsMust Have:6–8+ years of software engineering experience.2+ years of engineering management/team leadership experience.Strong hands-on TypeScript/JavaScript development.Strong React experience.Strong Node.js experience.Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.Distributed systems and API experience.Event-driven architecture experience.CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and security practices.System design and architecture experience.Experience leading complex cross-functional engineering initiatives.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.AWS / Technology StackPreferred QualificationsExperience with workflow-driven or compliance-sensitive applications.Case management or decisioning platform experience.AI/ML or data-driven product experience.Platform architecture and shared services experience.Experience working with sensitive user data and security/regulatory requirements.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe strongest candidate will be:Hands-on Engineering Manager + Full Stack EngineerThey should be comfortable spending significant time coding and designing systems, not just managing people.The ideal background would include:React + TypeScript + Node.js + AWS + Distributed Systems + Event-Driven Architecture + Engineering Management
