Software Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering & Delivery Manager to lead and strengthen a multidisciplinary software engineering organisation supporting large-scale, mission-critical solutions.This role will oversee multiple engineering teams and projects across solution design, software development, delivery, maintenance and future technology development. You will play a key role in improving engineering standards, delivery effectiveness and the adoption of modern technologies across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop multidisciplinary software engineering teams, including Engineering Managers, Architects, Technical Leads, Developers, QA Engineers, contractors and offshore teams.Oversee multiple concurrent software projects across different stages of the software development lifecycle.Manage resource allocation, team capacity and capability development to support project and business requirements.Drive engineering excellence through effective software development standards, architecture governance, quality assurance and delivery practices.Provide technical leadership across software architecture, cloud platforms, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, cybersecurity and platform engineering.Ensure the reliable delivery and operational support of large-scale, mission-critical and high-availability software systems.Work closely with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors and offshore teams to manage delivery, risks, technical issues and priorities.Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, software quality and delivery efficiency through automation and AI/GenAI-enabled development practices.Evaluate emerging technologies and drive their practical adoption across software engineering teams.Establish and monitor engineering KPIs, quality metrics and delivery standards.Build engineering capabilities through mentoring, talent development, recruitment and continuous improvement.RequirementsDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.15+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with significant experience in engineering leadership and software delivery management.Proven experience leading multiple software engineering teams, ideally including Engineering Managers, Architects and Technical Leads.Strong track record delivering large-scale, mission-critical or high-availability software systems.Experience in a System Integrator (SI) environment is highly preferred.Strong understanding of software architecture, modern software engineering practices, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, cybersecurity and cloud-native technologies.Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, resources, vendors and/or offshore development teams.Strong understanding of AI/GenAI and its application in software engineering, with experience driving AI-assisted development, automation or engineering productivity initiatives.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.Experience in transportation, mobility, telecommunications, banking, government, utilities or other mission-critical industries will be advantageous.What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for a strong engineering leader rather than a hands-on developer — someone who can provide technical direction, lead multiple teams, improve engineering practices and deliver complex software systems reliably.If you have a strong background in software engineering leadership, mission-critical systems and modern engineering practices, and are excited about using AI/GenAI to transform how engineering teams work, we would like to hear from you.
