Engineering Manager | Building Technology / Property TechnologyI’m recruiting for a leading commercial real estate technology company looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team building the technology behind the modern workplace and building experience.This is not an Engineering Manager role where you step away from the technology.You’ll lead and develop a strong engineering team while staying closely involved in architecture, system design, technical strategy, code reviews and complex engineering decisions.The product sits at the intersection of software and the physical world, powering how people interact with buildings — from access and operations to workplace experiences, integrations and tenant-facing technology.What you’ll be doing:Lead, mentor and grow a team of talented software engineersOwn delivery of high-impact, customer-facing product initiativesStay deeply involved in architecture, system design and technical problem-solvingHelp shape the technical direction of a sophisticated building technology platformPartner closely with Product and Design on new product capabilitiesSolve complex integration challenges across software and physical building systemsBuild and promote AI-enabled development workflows that improve engineering speed, quality and productivityHelp the team adopt modern AI tooling across coding, testing, debugging, documentation and development workflowsEvaluate where AI can genuinely improve the engineering process — and where traditional approaches are still betterWhat they’re looking for:2+ years of Engineering Management experienceA strong software engineering background and desire to remain technically engagedExperience building scalable web applications and backend servicesStrong understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructureExperience leading complex technical projects from idea through productionA track record of mentoring and developing engineersStrong product instincts and comfort operating in a highly collaborative environmentHands-on experience using modern AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similarA practical understanding of how to integrate AI into real software engineering workflows rather than simply experimenting with itThe technology environment includes Go, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Temporal and AWS.This is a great fit for an Engineering Manager who wants to lead people, influence architecture, stay close to the code and help define how modern AI changes the way software gets built.New York City | 4 days onsite$180K–$210K base + equityIf you’re an Engineering Manager who still considers yourself an engineer at heart — and you’re already using AI to become a better one — please apply.
