Software Enginer

Role Description This part-time remote Software Engineer role at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support agricultural data management, internal systems, and digital services. The Software Engineer will write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, implement and test new features, and troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Daily responsibilities include contributing to back-end web services and APIs, integrating databases and external systems, and participating in code reviews to ensure quality and security standards. The role also involves analyzing requirements, proposing technical improvements, and supporting the continuous enhancement of existing applications and platforms that serve stakeholders across the agricultural sector.Qualifications Strong foundations in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.Demonstrated experience in Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or similar).Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs, working with databases, and handling server-side logic.Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their practical application in designing scalable software solutions.Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience with testing practices (unit, integration, or automated testing) and code review processes.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Understanding of public sector or agricultural domain systems is an advantage but not required.
