The Software Systems Engineer supports a very dynamic and innovative space program with the design, development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of software systems for advanced space vehicle programs.Position OverviewLV8D Solutions is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to serve as a key technical contributor across the system lifecycle, ensuring software solutions meet mission requirements, interface seamlessly with flight and ground systems, and comply with programmatic, security, safety, and quality standards. This role collaborates with software developers, systems engineers, mission operations personnel, cybersecurity specialists, andprogram leadership to deliver reliable, mission-critical capabilities that support spacecraft operations and mission success.Interested candidates need to thrive in an innovative, fast-paced environment; are highly motivated and not afraid to take on uncharted territory; possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; and be able to prioritize their time to be effective in a dynamic environment.RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes stakeholder, mission, and system requirements and translate them into software and interface requirementsDevelops and maintains software architecture products, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and system engineering artifactsSupports software requirements decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation activities throughout the development lifecycleCollaborates with flight software, ground software, cybersecurity, and hardware engineering teams to ensure end-to-end system integrationParticipates in system design reviews, software technical reviews, and program milestone events including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operational Readiness Review (ORR)Develops and maintain requirements traceability between mission objectives, system requirements, software specifications, and verification activitiesSupports software integration, test planning, execution, anomaly resolution, and operational readiness activitiesPerforms system modeling, performance analysis, and trade studies to evaluate technical solutions and support engineering decisionsCoordinates software configuration management, change control, and release activitiesAssists in risk identification, mitigation planning, and technical issue resolutionSupport mission operations, anomaly investigations, software upgrades, and post-launch sustainment activities as requiredEnsure compliance with applicable aerospace, cybersecurity, quality assurance, and mission assurance standardsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline9+ years of experience supporting software engineering, systems engineering, or software integration activitiesExperience with the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, design, integration, test, verification, and validationKnowledge of software development methodologies including Agile, DevSecOps, and traditional waterfall approachesExperience supporting complex integrated systems in aerospace, defense, intelligence, or space environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiencesAbility to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle, or ground control systemsKnowledge of flight software architectures and command-and-control systemsExperience with Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysMLFamiliarity with space communication protocols, Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) systemsExperience with software integration laboratories, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and mission simulationsUnderstanding of cybersecurity requirements for space systemsFamiliarity with digital engineering principles and modern software factory environmentsSecurity RequirementsU.S. CitizenshipActive Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearanceActive Counterintelligence (CI) or Full Scope (FS) PolygraphWork EnvironmentOn-site work in a government or contractor facility Occasional travel (up to 10%) About LV8D SolutionsLV8D Solutions is an elite Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) company that delivers advanced systems engineering, integration, acquisition, mission operations, network communications, and cybersecurity support to our defense and intelligence customers.
