The school encourages collaboration among educators, families, and students to create a safe and structured setting for learning.Role Description The Special Education Teacher will work on-site in Kandy in a full-time capacity, supporting students with diverse learning needs in both mainstream and specialized classroom settings. Responsibilities include planning and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs), adapting curriculum and teaching methods, and providing targeted interventions based on students’ abilities and needs. The teacher will assess student progress regularly, maintain documentation, and collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and families to ensure holistic support. Day-to-day tasks also involve managing classroom behavior positively, facilitating small group and one-on-one instruction, and creating an inclusive environment that promotes student participation and independence.QualificationsDiploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Special Education, Special Needs Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related fieldPrevious experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) will be an advantageGood command of English with strong communication skillsAbility to identify and support individual learning and developmental needsKnowledge of individualized learning/support plans and appropriate teaching strategiesPatient, caring, responsible, and child-focused approachAbility to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and school managementCommitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environmentWillingness to work onsite in Kandy, Sri Lanka
