Position SummaryThe Special Project Lead serves as the central owner and execution leader for the organization's high-priority strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects. The role is responsible for driving projects from concept through completion, ensuring delivery within approved timelines, budgets, and quality standards while achieving intended business outcomes.Working across multiple departments, the Special Project Lead coordinates resources, manages stakeholders, mitigates risks, and ensures project objectives remain aligned with the organization's strategic priorities. The role also champions project management excellence by standardizing methodologies, enhancing governance practices, and continuously improving project delivery effectiveness across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & DeliveryLead and manage strategic, complex, and enterprise-wide projects from initiation through closure.Develop project charters, business cases, work plans, budgets, and implementation roadmaps.Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved quality standards.Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, issues, dependencies, and bottlenecks.Provide clear status reporting and progress updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.Cross-Functional CoordinationServe as the primary point of coordination across all participating departments.Align stakeholders on project goals, priorities, timelines, and responsibilities.Facilitate decision-making and issue resolution to maintain project momentum.Coordinate and optimize resource allocation across multiple business functions.Ensure seamless collaboration among internal teams and external partners where applicable.Project Governance & Business ExcellenceEstablish and maintain project governance structures and reporting frameworks.Standardize project management methodologies, templates, tools, and best practices across the organization.Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance requirements, and business excellence standards.Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing project execution efficiency and effectiveness.Conduct post-project reviews and lessons-learned assessments to improve future project outcomes.Strategic Initiatives ManagementTranslate organizational priorities into actionable project plans.Support leadership in evaluating and prioritizing strategic initiatives.Track benefits realization and ensure projects deliver intended business value.Identify opportunities for operational improvement, innovation, and transformation through project initiatives.Stakeholder ManagementBuild strong relationships with executive leaders, department heads, and project sponsors.Manage stakeholder expectations through transparent communication and reporting.Present project updates, key risks, recommendations, and outcomes to senior leadership committees.Risk & Change ManagementIdentify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.Manage project changes through structured change control processes.Ensure project impacts on people, processes, and systems are effectively addressed and communicated.Support organizational readiness and stakeholder adoption of project deliverables.Scope of AuthorityThe Special Project Lead is authorized to:Manage the complete project lifecycle for assigned strategic initiatives.Coordinate and prioritize resources across multiple departments.Enforce project governance, milestones, and delivery timelines.Escalate project risks, issues, and resource constraints to executive leadership.Recommend corrective actions to ensure successful project outcomes.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field.Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.Professional Certifications (Preferred)PMP (Project Management Professional)PRINCE2 PractitionerLean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black BeltAgile, Scrum, or Project Portfolio Management certificationsExperience8-12 years of professional experience in project management, business transformation, business excellence, PMO, or strategic initiatives.Proven track record managing large-scale, cross-functional projects.Experience working with senior executives and managing multiple stakeholders.Demonstrated success in driving organizational improvements and project delivery excellence.Core CompetenciesLeadership & ManagementStrategic ThinkingProject LeadershipDecision-MakingExecution ExcellenceResults OrientationTechnical CompetenciesProject Management MethodologiesPMO GovernanceRisk ManagementResource PlanningBudget ManagementChange ManagementBusiness Process ImprovementPerformance Measurement & ReportingBehavioral CompetenciesStrong Communication SkillsInfluencing & NegotiationStakeholder ManagementProblem SolvingCollaborationAdaptabilityContinuous Improvement Mindset
