Join us to find the way.We are looking for a dynamic individual to join us as Specialist, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the sustainable graduation of targeted ultra-poor persons with disabilities by identifying priority mental health and psychosocial support needs and designing and implementing individualized, holistic interventions. The role will strengthen psychological well-being, self-esteem, functional engagement, enterprise participation, role performance, essential life skills and ensure access to appropriate mental health, psychosocial and other essential services through effective referral and follow-up mechanisms. The role will also provide technical guidance and capacity development support to frontline staff to ensure quality implementation, strengthen the capacity of caregivers, families and communities through awareness, education and supportive engagement, contributing to sustained well-being, inclusion, resilience and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the mental health and psychosocial support needs of persons with disabilities from ultra-poor households and identify priority interventions.Develop individualized care plans and organize home and community-based psychosocial support, including regular follow-up, activity of daily living (ADL) support, and meaningful occupational engagement.Provide appropriate individual, family, and group counselling or therapeutic support to persons with disabilities, caregivers and family members.Identify severe or complex mental health cases, facilitate psychiatric referrals, and coordinate treatment, medication adherence and recovery support.Monitor intervention implementation and case progress through structured follow-up, case documentation and outcome tracking.Facilitate community-based awareness, advocacy session, and stakeholder engagement to mobilize local resources and strengthen support systems for persons with disabilities in collaboration with programme teams.Build the capacity of frontline staff through tailored training, on-the-job coaching, mentoring and technical guidance for Suborno Sathi, Programme Organisers, Branch Managers and relevant field staff.Document and share case learnings, good practices, implementation challenges and emerging insights to strengthen programme quality, learning and accountability. Safeguarding Responsibilities:Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.Additional Job Requirements:Sound knowledge of mental health and psychosocial assessment, intervention approaches, disability inclusion and community-based support.Understanding of basic counselling principles, case management and crisis identification.Understanding of disability–poverty dynamics, family and community contexts, local norms, behaviors, and referral pathways.Strong psychosocial assessment, care planning, counselling, intervention, follow-up, and case documentation skills.Practical skills in community counselling, self-esteem building, career guidance, and psychosocial support.Strong communication,facilitation, training and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to deliver community-based counselling and psychosocial support to persons with disabilities, caregivers, and families.Ability to identify complex cases and coordinate appropriate referrals and service linkages.Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in Psychology from a recognized university or institution. A Master’s degree in Psychology or a relevant discipline will be considered an added advantage.Experience Requirements:Minimum 2 years of work experience in community based mental health and psychosocial support or work in a disability specialized organization or programme.
