Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob Description - Specialist OphthalmologistLocation: Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesWe are seeking a highly qualified Specialist Ophthalmologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of eye diseases and visual disorders. The role includes outpatient consultations, surgical procedures within granted privileges, emergency eye care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with DOH regulations and international clinical standards.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity assessment, slit-lamp examination, fundoscopy, tonometry, refraction, and visual field evaluation. Diagnose and manage cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal disorders, corneal diseases, uveitis, ocular trauma, and neuro-ophthalmic conditions. Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures within granted clinical privileges, including cataract surgery (phacoemulsification), laser procedures, eyelid surgery, and other ophthalmic interventions. Manage ophthalmic emergencies, including acute glaucoma, ocular trauma, retinal detachment, and vision-threatening conditions. Interpret ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic investigations, including OCT, fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, corneal topography, and ultrasound where applicable. Collaborate with endocrinologists, neurologists, pediatricians, internists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary patient care. Educate patients regarding eye health, disease prevention, and postoperative care. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention, and patient safety programs. Supervise junior physicians and contribute to teaching, mentoring, research, and continuing medical education (CME). Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, hospital policies, and international evidence-based clinical guidelinesRequirementsMBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution. Postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS, MD, Arab Board, FRCOphth, CCT, American Board, Canadian Fellowship, Australian Fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification). Valid DOH License or DOH Eligibility Letter as a Specialist Ophthalmologist, or eligibility to obtain one.
