Speech and Language Therapist

Basic Purpose of the role:The Speech Therapist is responsible for preventing, assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in both children and adults. The Therapist will ensure the delivery of care that meets international standards in alignment with national and international policies and procedures.Key responsibilities of the role:Managerial/Administration:Develop and uphold therapy service standards. Serve as a role model, delivering high clinical and operational performance.Collaborates with nursing and allied health staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive officers and other stakeholders in program and service development.Market and promote the speech therapy service to patients, referrers, and the public, and engage in business development activities.Technical:Implement and deliver patient care that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.Facilitate treatment for a wide range of speech and language disorders, including aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and language delays.Identifying underlying causes for speech defects, such as severe injuries, strokes or Vocal cord dysfunction.Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and patient expectations.Communicate with the p Patient care team regarding recommendations and home environment for admission and discharge planning.Maintain an active caseload as required by service demand.Promote a cooperative and effective environment for patient care within the facility.Perform other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities Utilize evidence-based practices to guide and improve clinical standards.Utilize evidence-based practices to guide and improve clinical standards.Participates in quality management activities as assigned and at a personal level of accountability, i.e. accreditation process.Evaluates factors related to safety, outcomes, effectiveness, cost, and social impact when developing and implementing practice innovations.Contribute to the Hospital’s Quality and Audit Programs.Education:Engage in staff development activities aligned with service delivery and learning goals.Lead and participate in educational activities within and across departments.Play a significant role in developing hospital programs, quality initiatives, policies, procedures, and competencies.Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:Qualifications:BSc in Speech-language pathology/ Speech and language therapy /Speech pathology /Speech therapy/Speech.Specialist Certifications:Valid license/registration to practice his / her specialty from Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.BLS certification.Knowledge of KSA Health Regulations.International accreditation experience.Experience Required in addition to the Qualifications mentioned above (Relevant to the Job):Minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification in a hospital or clinical settings.
